About Allan Rhodes - Christian

During the last election cycle I continually heard from the national media and some local media that having a test for whom to vote is wrong. We should vote for the person who is most informed on the issues regardless of their personal lives or religion. Look where that has moved the country over the last 40 years. I personally have a test for which I will vote:

  1. Christian
  2. Conservative - Fiscal, Social
  3. Pro Life
  4. Lower taxes – Tax reform – Fair Tax on National level, Every 4 year tax appraisals State level
  5. Education – Vouchers, No Federal mandated programs without funding
  6. Smaller Government
  7. Enforce the laws on the books
  8. Anti-illegal immigration
  9. Believer in States Rights
  10. Constitutionalist
  11. Hard on Criminals – Believes in Death Penalty
  12. Right to Bear Arms
  13. Freedom of Speech
  14. You can add your own qualifications here...

And the list could go on however; the first requirement on my personal voting list is - Christian. If, Christian men and women will stand up and stand for something they will be less likely to fall for anything. There are absolutes in life and the 10 Commandments are a great place to start when wondering what to do in any given situation. I use the principles of the 10 Commandments and others from the Bible to define what I stand for so that I will not fall for any shiny thing that comes along.

Mike Huckabee puts it a little better in his book “Do the Right Thing”:

“Our nation was created with the understanding that people would 'Do the right thing' not because they were compelled by law or force, but by conscience. This idealistic view of governing was the hope of our Founders. The Genius of our Constitution and Bill of Rights is that it limits government – not the citizens. The idea was that we needed to fear that our government might get out of hand. But if we were able to keep government under control, then the people would enjoy an unprecedented level of freedom. What citizens had to do was simple: the right thing.”

It is time that Christians, who are willing to stand up for our values take a place of leadership in our State and Federal governments in-order to make sure that the values and issues that we care about are preserved. Our founding fathers established our country under a system of laws and recognized the God of the Bible. In the last half-century Christians have given up too much influence to the decidedly anti-Christian, secular leadership of people like Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and many others too many to list here. God is being taken off of our money, out of our schools, and if hate crimes continue to be passed, soon churches will not be able to speak the truth about many other social issues. So, number one on my list is that the candidate for office is a Christian, then how have they lived their lives and will they continue to live a Christ centered life while in office under tremendous pressure to change. I believe you will know them by the fruit they produce throughout their life.
