About Allan Rhodes - Family Man

I believe in the God established institution of traditional marriage, one man, one woman.

In 1994 my first marriage failed. I thought that life was over, marriage was supposed to last a lifetime. While I ended up as the custodial parent of my 6-year old daughter I could not see far enough down the road at how God was going to take care of me and my daughter. A lot of prayer and tears lead to a confidence in God as the provider - not myself. A few years later I met Lisa Keller. We were married after a year of dating. God had again blessed me with a wife. We both love God and know that we are called according to his purpose. Lisa and I plan to grow old together.

Audrey my oldest daughter recently married. She told me that she wanted a marriage like ours because it has lasted. Sometimes, it takes time, but God will bring back those things that Satan wants to take from us. I am proud of Audrey and my new son in law who is finishing his training in the U.S. Army. I am looking forward to raising the 2 additional children God has given me. I have been blessed with a 3 year-old daughter, Anniston, who has Downs Syndrome and a 6 year-old son, Adam. Sometimes I wonder how God found such favor with us to let us have such a beautiful children.

As your Alabama State Senator from District 7, I will be an advocate for the rights of parents with children who have disabilities, seek more funding for schools to early educate children with disabilities so that they can communicate and join the regular classroom. I support legislation defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I believe no fault divorce in Alabama has made it to easy for people to get divorced and it is hurting our State and should be repealed.
